The following was transcribed from the
Suspected Abuse Report (shown below) filed with CPS by Jo's pediatrician,
Dr. Herbert Brosbe, M.D.
4-24-92 Father
of child called to discuss his concerns regarding possible physical
abuse by Jo's mother.
6-5-92 Father
made apt. to show me a video taken 7-31-91.
On video 7-31-91
child is seen to have obvious red slap mark
on [left] cheek. Father questions child on video as to how this
occurred. Child answers, 'Mommie hit me.'
Father reports
other incidents of physical abuse before and since 7-31-91.
Father relates
concerns that child's medical records may delineate other abusive
actions:
4-13-90 [left]
elbow dislocation [due] to mom yanking
arm.
8-27-91
head injury 'bumped head.'
Jo's pediatrician, Dr. Brosbe, M.D., submitted a
Suspected Abuse report to Child Protective Services (CPS), to the Santa
Rosa Police Department, and to the Sonoma County Sheriff's and Probation
Departments.
To my knowledge there was no response, investigation
or follow up by any of these organizations. In fact, David Jensen of
CPS told me that CPS never received a copy of Dr. Brosbe's report.
However, Mr. Jensen's statement was flatly
contradicted by Probation Department investigator, Kristina Sanders, who
informed me she personally saw a copy of Dr. Brosbe's Suspected Abuse
Report on file at CPS the day before Jensen informed me CPS never received
it.
David Jensen was his name.
